International Artist Portraits

Bart Lindstrom

I thought I would share these with you. You can see them all here. All the artists who took part are fantastic. I love the loose style with very little detail. Aaron Westerberg is one of my favourite portrait painters, but then again there are so many it would be hard for me to say who is my all time favourite. Go and take a look yourself and tell me what you think.

Peter Hall Workshop

This painting was quite interesting to do. I started with something completely different and didn't like where it was going. When I started to scrape off the paint, I smeared that gunk back onto the canvas and it looked like rocks, so that was the beginning of this painting. Turned out OK I think ?

Practice Paintings

I gave this little painting to my grandson.

I don't normally paint landscapes, buildings, or scenery and I don't normally work with a palette knife much either, but this was enjoyable to say the least.

Digital Artwork

I thought I would share the possibilities that one can achieve with photoshop. The first picture was a tiny, not good quatlity photo that was transformed into the watercolour looking second picture, which the client was very happy with.

Commission Art work

The client gave me a photo of her daughter and asked me to do a painting but because of time restraints and cost, I suggested doing a digital painting which is the one on the righthand side wall.
The person in the photo was wearing a very deep purple dress and I was asked if I could change the colour to match the turquoise in the other two paintings above the bed. Voila !
I charged the client R2700 for the art work which was printed onto canvas and the framing was done by the client.

Women Painting Women

The photo doesn't give it justice but it isn't finished yet and I am just enjoying the textured background before I finish it. Once again my fascination with turbans.

Secret Garden

I was given this pattern by one of my students and had to do it straight away. Usually I draw up my own patterns but this one was so beautiful I couldn't resist it, she is so graceful smelling a rose in her secret garden.

Title undecided yet

Village People

This is not my normal style but I have been playing around with some different techniques which I am really enjoying. I haven't put on the encaustic wax yet but will post new photos when I do. I love the one on the left, they look like they are on their way back from church.

Fat Sue

FAT SUE R (Price on request) 1.00m x 120cm
This painting is a complete conterfeit. The original artist was Lucien Freud, grandson of Sigmund. I saw this painting in a newspaper a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it, promising to paint it for myself one day. It just makes me smile and relax in my own skin. The painting sold for a wopping 17,000,000 pounds! One of the highest prices for a living artist, it sold on auction at in London.
